Using The Keyboard##
##
USING THE KEYBOARD:##
##
To use the keyboard, there are special conventions you need to
know. Please read the following:##
##
##
##
POINTER FOCUS:##
##
##A vertical line indicates where your pointer is located. If a
button is highlighted, or has a dashed line around the command,
the focus is located at that position.##
##
##
##
TAB KEY:##
##
The TAB key will move you from the tool bar to the input fields,
to the command buttons on the bottom of the main screen.##
##
It will move you vertically and horizontally to different fields
and command buttons. To move backwards, press SHIFT+TAB.##
##
In the list screens the TAB key will move you from the command
buttons to the lists. Use this key to jump to the various
fields.##
##
##
##
ENTER KEY:##
##
The ENTER key will move you to the individual input lines, and
then to the Search button. Pressing ENTER when on the Search
button will initiate a search.##
##
Pressing ENTER will also activate the default button, which is
highlighted, or is the button that has a dashed line around the
command.##
##
##
##
ARROW KEYS:##
##
The Arrow keys will move you horizontally across the menu bar,
tool bar, or to adjacent command buttons, or to the application
control menu.##
##
It will move you vertically only to scroll in lists and through
the menu options on the menu bar.##
##
##
##
KEY COMBINATIONS:##
##
Keys are often used in sequences or combinations.##
##
-SHIFT+TAB means to hold down the SHIFT key while pressing the
TAB key.##
##
You will see that all the command buttons and menu choices have
letters that are underlined. Pressing the ALT key together with
the underlined key will enable you to initiate the action of
those keys.##
##
-ALT+C means to hold down the ALT key while pressing##
the C key##
##
##
##
SPACE BAR: The Space Bar will activate the Command Buttons.##
##
##

CHOOSING A COMMAND FROM THE MENU BAR:##
##
1. Press F10 to go to the Menu Bar. Arrow to the menu selection,
and press ENTER, OR press ALT+the underlined letter, (for example
"F"), to open the menu.##
##
2. Arrow down to the menu option of your choice, and press
ENTER,##
OR press the letter that is underlined in your selection.##
##
##
##
CHOOSING TOOL BAR BUTTONS:##
##
1. TAB to the Tool Bar.##
##
2. Arrow across to the Tool Bar Button of your choice, and press
ENTER.##
##
3. OR press ALT+the underlined letter, (for example "C" for
Cities).##
##
##
##
CHOOSING COMMAND BUTTONS:##
##
1. TAB to the Command Button of your choice. Press Enter to
initiate the command.##
##
2. OR press ALT+the underlined letter, (for example "O" for
Copy).##
##
##
##
MOVING TO INPUT FIELDS:##
##
1. TAB to the input field of your choice, and enter
information.##
##
Press ENTER or TAB to move to the next field.##
##
##
##
MOVING AROUND IN THE LIST SCREENS:##
##
1. The TAB key will move you between the tool bar and the list.##
##
2. Arrow across the tool bar to select a command button.##
##
3. Arrow down to scroll the list.##
##
4. Use the ALT+underlined letter to select a command,##
OR press ENTER when the command button contains a dashed
line.##
##
##
##
ACCESSING HELP:##
##
1. You may access help at anytime during the use of this
application by pressing F1, or by pressing ALT+H.##
##
2. TAB or arrow to the area in question, and press F1. A help
window will appear.##
##
3. Also, selecting Help in the tool bar, or pressing ALT+H will
pull down a HELP menu. Select Index, and a list of topics will
appear. Select the topic in question, and press ALT+V, to view a
help window.##
##
##
##
Select Close to exit this window.##
